Date: Friday, July 25, 2025, Noon EDT

Description:
Tutor training is about more than orientation and basic skills—it’s about shaping how peer tutors respond to the wide range of cognitive and emotional needs they encounter. Effective training prepares tutors to recognize the cues students bring into sessions and equips them with a flexible set of strategies to meet those needs with confidence and care.
This session will explore key approaches to designing and revising tutor training curricula. We’ll look at evidence on how training impacts real tutoring behavior and discuss how to build training that models the very practices we want tutors to use. Participants will leave with new ideas, adaptable strategies, and a broader understanding of how thoughtful training design can elevate both tutor growth and student learning.
