Keigh-Cee Bell
CURRENT JOB TITLE: Director of Tutoring and Supplemental Instruction at Grand Valley State University
POSITION OF INTEREST: Webinar Coordinator
I currently serve as the Director of Tutoring and Supplemental Instruction at Grand Valley State University. I hold a B.A. in English from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville and an MFA in Creative Writing with a focus on writing pedagogy from American University, as well as a Level 2 Learning Center Leadership Certification. My professional journey has taken me through diverse paths—beginning as an adjunct English professor, briefly transitioning into a marketing career, and ultimately returning to my true passion: higher education and learning assistance.
Since 2018, I have been deeply involved in the tutoring, learning center, and Supplemental Instruction communities, including serving as the Marketing and Publications Officer for ICLAC for the last two years. During the COVID-19 pandemic, while the world learned to bake sourdough bread or took up knitting, my hobby became creating accessible professional development for learning assistance professionals. I launched and facilitated regular virtual conversations that began with topics such as transitioning to online services and integrating technology, which evolved to include critical discussions on anti-racism, bias, tutor wellness, and leadership practices.
Recognizing the need for virtual connection and collaboration, I also founded the Learning Center Professionals Discord server—an inclusive and ongoing space for dialogue, resource-sharing, and support. Additionally, I had the privilege of serving on the committee that organized ICLCA’s first virtual conference in Fall 2020.
I believe my unique blend of experiences—spanning teaching, administration, marketing, and grassroots community-building—positions me well to serve as ICLCA’s next Webinar Coordinator. I’m passionate about making professional development accessible, relevant, and responsive to the needs of both emerging and veteran practitioners in our field. If selected, I am committed to curating webinar content that uplifts innovation, shares best practices, and fosters meaningful engagement across our vibrant professional community.
Being a member of ICLCA has profoundly shaped my career, and I would be honored to giveback by contributing to its future in this role.

CURRENT JOB TITLE: Associate Director, Science Learning Center, University of Michigan
POSITION OF INTEREST: Recording Secretary
I have been serving as the Associate Director of the Science Learning Center at the University of Michigan (U-M) since April 2019. In this role, I am responsible for leading the Academic Programs Team which includes professional staff supporting the Study Group and Tutoring programs. Prior to U-M, I served at Kent State University’s (KSU) Academic Success Center (ASC) in the roles of Director and Assistant Director from May 2014-April 2019 and Exploratory Advising Center in the roles of Academic Advisor II and Graduate Assistant from June 2008-May 2014. I attended my first NCLCA Annual Conference in 2015 and have been hooked ever since! I’ve additionally participated in two Summer Institutes, facilitated three Conference Concurrent Sessions, two Pre-Conference Workshops, and a Webinar, co-authored a chapter for the Learning Centers in the 21 st Century publication, and attained Level 3 Learning Center Leadership Certification. While working in my current role our Center was selected for the Learning Center Website Excellence award and the Frank L. Christ Outstanding Learning Center award. While serving as Director of the ASC at KSU, our Center received the honor of the Frank L. Christ Outstanding Learning Center award. I have also had the privilege of serving as the inaugural President of the Ohio College Learning Center Association (OCLCA) regional affiliate, now the Heartland College Learning Center Association (HCLCA). Through this experience, I worked alongside remarkable Ohio colleagues to build upon the idea of a regional affiliate in 2016 to becoming a recognized organization just one year later. I held the Executive Board positions of President and Immediate President from January 2017-October 2020. During that time, we hosted two annual conferences, four webinars, and responded to shifting pandemic needs by transitioning to less formal but more frequent virtual membership discussions on timely topics. Since September 2021, I have been serving as the Recording Secretary for ICLCA. During my first term in the position, I worked to re-organize our board meeting agendas and minutes, streamline our board meeting scheduling, create a Record of Action document to track the board meeting motions, update our bylaws to align with shifting organizational needs and practices resulting from the COVID pandemic, and transition our organization from the National to International College Learning Center Association. During my second term in office, I have maintained these organizational practices to streamline our record keeping practices and simplify board member access to essential information. Moving forward, I aim to focus efforts on our Financial Policies to keep them aligned with our Bylaws as they evolve through amendments to maintain clarity and transparency. It would be an honor to continue serving ICLCA as the Recording Secretary for another term in office.

These are essential in helping us expand our ability to support learning center leaders and, ultimately, the students who use our academic support services. Moreover, building and cultivating such partnerships are essential in solving real-world challenges around educational technology, identifying tools that support innovative assessment efforts, and expand professional development opportunities for LC leaders (such as our ongoing Learning Center Leader Roundtable series in partnership with Knack). Here are some metrics from my last two years in this position:
